Call for Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Applications under the TAGDev 2.0 Programme for the 2025/2026 Academic Year at University of Cape Cost – Ghana

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, invites scholarship applications for the 2025/2026 academic year under the Transforming African Agricultural Universities to Meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development (TAGDev 2.0) Programme at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

About TAGDev 2.0

TAGDev 2.0 is a 10-year programme (2023-2033) designed to strengthen universities and TVET institutions in Africa, equipping young Africans with skills to drive inclusive, equitable, and climate-resilient transformation in agriculture and agrifood systems. The programme supports economically disadvantaged but academically competent students to access university education.

Special consideration is given to:

  • Females

  • Refugees

  • Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)

  • Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)

Eligible Programmes

Scholarships are available for the following undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana:

Undergraduate Programmes
  1. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture

  2. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension and Community Development

  3. Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness

  4. Bachelor of Science in Horticulture

Postgraduate Programmes
  1. Master of Philosophy in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology

  2. Master of Philosophy in Agricultural Extension

  3. Master of Philosophy in Aquaculture

  4. Master of Philosophy in Crop Science

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Admission Requirements

  • WASSCE/SSSCE: Credit passes in six (6) subjects (including English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science), plus three (3) relevant electives.

  • GCE Advanced Level: Five (5) credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level, including English and Mathematics, plus three (3) passes at Advanced Level.

  • International Baccalaureate (IB): Minimum Grade 4 at Higher Level in three (3) relevant subjects.

  • Mature Applicants: Must be 25 years or older and have relevant secondary school qualifications. Those without the required passes must take an entrance examination.

  • Diploma Holders: Entry at Level 200 or 300, depending on the assessment of the diploma/certificate.

Postgraduate Admission Requirements

  • MPhil in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology: Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.

  • MPhil in Agricultural Extension: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.5.

  • MPhil in Aquaculture & Crop Science: Applicants must possess a Second-Class Lower Division or better from a recognized university.

  • Foreign Students: Must provide evidence of qualifications equivalent to Ghana’s educational standards.
