In this episode of Resilient Voices of Refugees, we spotlight Milambo Muzungu Pascal, a dynamic refugee youth leader and humanitarian innovator whose voice continues to shape powerful conversations on migration, inclusion, and community-led transformation. Milambo’s work stands as a testament to what is possible when displaced youth lead with courage, conviction, and a deep understanding of the communities they belong to.
Milambo’s journey is rooted in service and innovation. As a trained Logistician and the Founder & CEO of the Hope for Refugees Foundation, he has dedicated his career to building sustainable, youth-centered solutions that uplift refugees and create meaningful pathways for progress. His organization has become a beacon of hope mobilizing young people, strengthening community structures, and designing interventions that respond directly to the real needs of displaced families.
His leadership extends far beyond the community level. Milambo is an Amahoro Coalition Fellow, a proud recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Student Excellence Award at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana, and the former President of the International Students Association, where he championed inclusion and representation for international and refugee students. Today, he serves as a member of the Southern Africa Migration Network, contributing his expertise and lived experience to regional migration dialogues.
In this powerful conversation, Milambo opens up about his path, the challenges that shaped him, and the vision that drives his work. He reflects on what it means to lead as a refugee, how youth innovation can transform humanitarian spaces, and why empowering young people is essential for the future of migration and development. His story is a reminder that leadership is not defined by circumstances, but by the courage to rise above them and to bring others along.
